1. What is the NP Online Bookshop?
NP Online Bookshop replaces the physical bookshop which used to be on-campus. It enables the NP community to have 24/7 access to a mega bookstore carrying close to 500,000 titles.
2. Who can use the NP Online Bookshop?
The NP Online Bookshop is open to NP students (including CET students), staff and alumni.
3. Is the price cheaper than other bookshops?
UBS is committed to pass all student discounts, promotional discounts, special discounts from publishers for textbooks to NP students and staff. For general reading books, UBS is committed to give a discount of 15% on most purchases, which is most of the time better than the rates elsewhere.
4. What is On-Campus Adopted Textbooks Sale?
At the commencement of each semester, the Bookshop comes on-campus for 3 to 4 weeks to facilitate the purchase of adopted textbooks at student discount rates. Publicity announcements will be made before the sale. Pre-orders are accepted two weeks before term starts. Students will collect their orders at the on-campus textbook sale venue through a priority queue.
5. Can students pre-order the books that they need to buy?

6. Is it necessary for students to pre-order the textbooks? Can students purchase it during the on campus sale?
By pre-ordering the textbooks, students will be served through a priority queue. Without pre-ordering, students will join the normal queue for service.
7. Will students be guaranteed to get their textbooks if pre-order is made?
While UBS endeavors to bring in sufficient copies for all titles, there is no guarantee that stocks are always available. Hence students are encouraged to collect their books as soon as possible.
8. How do students get informed of the books that they need to buy?
Titles submitted by lecturers will be in the Adopted Textbook Database. Students may browse by Schools/Divisions, modules, lecturer's names, Diplomas and Year of Study to find out the textbooks to purchase.
9. How do students purchase and collect their textbooks?
The NP Online Bookshop will come on-site for on-campus textbook for 3 to 4 weeks at the commencement of each semester. Opening hours will be from Mondays to Fridays, 0900 hours to 1830 hours. Students can purchase and collect textbooks during this period. After this date, the Bookshop will again operate online. Collection of orders will then be at the UBS Office or from the UltraSupplies at Block 1, Level 2.
10. Are students required to purchase the textbooks? Is it compulsory?
Students may confirm with their respective lecturers when in doubt.
11.Why are students unable to locate their modules on the portal?
This is likely because the student's particular module may not require purchase of textbooks. However, students may like to confirm with their lecturers.
12. When textbook orders are placed online after the on-campus textbook sale, what is the waiting period?
After the on-campus sale, orders will be fulfilled within 3 working days, if available locally.
13. Can lecturers arrange for bulk purchase of textbooks for their students?
Yes. You can email UBS on your requirements without using the submission Form if you have a confirmed quantity to be delivered.
14. Besides textbooks, what other types of books are available from NP Online Bookshop?
Students, staff and alumni may browse the website for New Arrivals, Popular Titles, academic, fiction and other leisure reading titles. Login with your NP-domain email address at UBSPRESS.COM for system to validate your status and display the relevant NP discounts.
15. Can staff/students order titles not found on the UBS website?
Yes, this will be entertained. Please email to UBS.
16. Who pays for the bulk purchase when delivered (eg. in some modules, there are textbooks that are compulsory to purchase)?
Student rep can consolidate the payment before delivery. Transaction will be cash-on-delivery by UBS to Lecture Theatres/classrooms at the specified time as requested.
17. How can students pay for online textbook purchases?
Bank transfer/ Paypal or cash payment at UBS Office. Collection can be done via UBS Office, delivered to staff's Office or at UltraSupplies at Block 1, Level 2. No payment is required for pre-ordering of textbooks. An Order Confirmation Slip will be sent to your NP e-mail address. Please remember to print the Order Confirmation Slip and collect your textbooks at the on-campus textbook sale venue.You may pay by cash or NETS upon collection.
18. How are books ordered online delivered?
Delivery at other times of the year (outside the on-campus textbook sale period) will be through UltraSupplies at Block 1, Level 2. Staff can request for delivery to their office. Students may also collect their orders from UBS Office. A delivery fee of $4.70 per book or $8 per order (more than one book) will be incurred if orders are to be delivered to a non-NP address.
19. Can students exchange, return or request for refunds?
This can be entertained if the book (applicable to textbooks only) is still in mint condition and if student has the receipt. Such requests must be made within 7 days from date of purchase.
20. How does the website differentiate a staff from a student who login?
The email address that the lecturer uses to register on the website has to be an NP email address as system verification is against domain name, ie. _____@np.edu.sg or sxxxxx@npconnect.np.edu.sg. Authentication is through an email alert which will be automatically sent to the email account indicated.
21. Can staff use any other email accounts?
As authentication is through the domain name in the NP email address, use of other email address will not qualify for the more attractive discount rates extended to NP students and staff.
22. How to register for an account?
Access NP Online Bookshop
Click on the link Sign Up Now! and complete the Account Registration Form. Please register with a valid NP e-mail address (eg. sxxxxx@connect.np.edu.sg or ______@np.edu.sg).
Thereafter, you will receive an e-mail to activate your account.
23. What should a student who does not have his NP e-mail account do?
The NP email account username is NPNet ID tag@connect.np.edu.sg (eg, s10012345@connect.np.edu.sg). Password is the same as the password for enrolment.
